Late Magic Gets Omaha 2-1 Win
|
The Omaha Storm Chasers topped the Nashville Sounds, 2-1, in American Conference action at Werner Park. The standout performance belonged to Omaha pitcher and Corozal, Puerto Rico, native Luis Quintana. Maddox Braine earned the save, his 10th. Their 63-76 record puts the Storm Chasers third in the American Conference North Division.
Had Jorge Ortega not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Ortega hit a 2-run double. That made the score 2-0, in favor of the Storm Chasers.
"You don't always need a lot of runs to win," said Ortega. "Sometimes you need just one or two."
