The Burlington Royals pulled out all the stops tonight, winning the Round 1 in a hard-fought series with the Johnson City Cardinals.

It was a seesaw affair, but with a 7-1 victory at Burlington Athletic Stadium, Burlington lay claim to the franchise's 3rd championship.

"There's no denying we faced a tough opponent," said Jeremy Cook. "But as the old saying goes, 'when the going gets tough, the tough get going,' and that's what we did today."

The champs finished the regular season 57-11 and claimed first place in the East.

A victory parade is set to be scheduled in Burlington in the days to come.
