Emeralds Clip Dust Devils 2-1 in R1 Contest
|
The Eugene Emeralds and the Tri-City Dust Devils will take the Round 1 to a decisive 5th game. Facing a must-win situation at Gesa Stadium today, the Emeralds beat the Dust Devils 2-1 in extra innings to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Eugene right-hander Jorge de Nova had a standout performance. He threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball.
Eugene used the timely hitting of Derek Marcus to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Emeralds on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Marcus told the Eugene Daily.
The next game is set to be played for Friday, September 22nd , 2034 at PK Park in Eugene.
