Royals Edge Yankees, 2-1
|
The Kansas City Royals and New York Yankees played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.
The Kansas City Royals got a magnificent effort from pitcher Amari Relerford, who kept New York hitters in check en route to a 2-1 Royals win at Kauffman Stadium. Juan Delgadillo was credited with the save for Kansas City, his 43rd of the season.
The Royals benefited from an error in the bottom of the fourth inning. Kansas City was trailing 1-0 when Jarred Kelenic hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put Kansas City in front, 2-1.
Kelenic said his team "executed a good game plan."
At 93-55, the Royals claim second place in the American League Champion Division.
