Guardians Get One-Run Win at Oakland
|
The Cleveland Guardians picked up a win at Oakland Coliseum, taking down the Oakland Athletics, 3-2. Starting pitcher Steve North was a big reason why. North, now 8-2, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 10 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The Guardians, at 105-47, have a comfortable 18½-game lead in their division.
Juan Meza, the 30-year old left fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Meza contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the first inning to put Cleveland up, 1-0.
"This was a tough loss," said Oakland manager MIguel Del Castillo. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
