Phillies Lose By a Run at San Francisco, 3-2
|
The San Francisco Giants relied on the hitting of center fielder Andy Stafford to stop the Philadelphia Phillies, 3-2. For the game, Stafford went 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. Elieis de Anda, now 5-3, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. The Phillies have now dropped 5 straight.
Juan Mora went 2-4 with 2 singles for San Francisco. The six-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Shamar Staine. It was his 65th RBI of the season.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said San Francisco manager Buddy Carlyle.
