The Potomac Nationals could not turn a fine performance from second baseman Josh Thompson into a win. Instead, the Winston-Salem Dash prevailed, 9-8, in 10 innings. Thompson went 2-3 with a triple, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The win has Winston-Salem at 13-8.

The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Vernon Wells Jr. came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Potomac pitcher Mike Markes, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Winston-Salem on top, 9-8.
