Nationals Come Back Late to Top Blue Rocks, 5-3
|
Wilmington wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Chris Boren, falling to the Potomac Nationals, 5-3. Boren threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Jim Steiger recorded the save, his 2nd. The Blue Rocks, at 8-27, have lost 4 in a row.
Potomac used the timely hitting of Tommie Black to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Nationals on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said Black.
