Lake County starter J.R. Schuppe put the Lansing offense in a vise grip. The left-hander relied heavily on his fastball in leading the Captains to a 2-1 win. The winner was Joel Thomson in relief. Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Butch Grossman? The 20-year old center fielder Grossman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put Lake County up, 2-1. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 2 doubles and 1 single.
