Reliever of the Year Goes to Carmichael

He may only be 25, but Joe Carmichael of the Gwinnett Stripers has already established himself as one of the elite relievers in the International League.

The reliever was today named the IL Reliever of the Year winner for 2034.

He won the award with a strong year that saw him put up 6 saves in 45 relief appearances and 80 strikeouts in 81.2 innings. He had a record of 6-3 to go with his 2.20 ERA.

He received 14 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Kevin Wagner of the Columbus Clippers finished second in voting, while Ernesto Manjarrez of the Indianapolis Indians finished third.
