The Cincinnati Reds got a strong performance from pitcher Juan Salinas, who stymied the Mexico City offense en route to a win, 4-2, at Great American Ball Park. In 6.2 innings, Salinas surrendered 10 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. Wilson Jiménez was credited with the save for Cincinnati, his 6th of the season.

The Reds got an important contribution from shortstop Rudy Edwards, who in the bottom of the fifth hit a curveball into right for a run-scoring triple. It was his 2nd triple of the season and put the Reds ahead, 3-2.

"I thought we played a nice game," Edwards told the Cincinnati Gazette. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."

The win gives the Reds a record of 13-15.
