Hernández Twirls No-Hitter Against DSL Ottawa
|
Fans at Baseball City Complex got a rare gift today as José Hernández of the White Sox tossed a no-hitter against the DSL Ottawa Lynx.
Although Hernández did not appear to have his best stuff in the early innings, he turned masterful as the game went on, ultimately striking out 26 and walking 1 in a 2-0 DSL Chicago (A) victory.
"We had our chances in the first few innings when he was hittable, and we couldn't capitalize on them," DSL Ottawa manager said later. "In the last four or five innings, he totally shut us down."
In all, Hernández faced only 28 batters. While getting into his groove, he was helped by several defensive gems.
"I don't remember a better-pitched game," White Sox manager said. "And how about our defense today?"
In season stats Hernández shows a 8-0 record in 8 games, 64.1 innings, 186 strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA.
