Baird Hurls No-Hitter
|
In a dominant outing, Freddie Baird of the DSL Detroit Tigers totally silenced the bats of the DSL Los Angeles (N) Dodgers, finishing with a no-hitter.
In the Tigers' 2-0 victory, Baird faced only 28 batters, surrendered no hits, had 19 strikeouts and 2 walks.
"Honestly, I didn't even know the situation was what it was until the seventh inning," DSL Detroit manager said. "I happened to look up there to see how many hits we had gotten, and I happened to notice that they hadn't gotten any."
Commenting on the defeat, losing manager had a "pretty simple" analysis of the game.
"The Tigers had all the hits and all the runs, so they won," he snapped. "But yeah, Baird pitched a heck of a ballgame."
To date this season Baird is 5-0 with 5 starts and an ERA of 0.43 with 104 strikeouts in 42.1 innings.
