Novoa Helps Bombers Beat Nationals, 8-5
|
The Jacksonville Bombers topped the Washington Nationals, 8-5, with center fielder Juan Novoa playing a big role. Novoa went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 6 RBI and scoring once for the Bombers in the win. J.J. Bolton, the winning pitcher, improved to 3-2. He pitched 7.2 innings, giving up 6 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 0. Eli Clark, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 11th save.
Novoa contributed in the top of the fourth. With the bases loaded, he hit a 2-run single. It was one at-bat among others that helped Jacksonville get the win.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Jacksonville skipper Kevin Tucker.
Jacksonville goes to 19-25, Washington to 26-18.
