Texas Rangers starter Steve Duffy was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Minnesota Twins, 5-4. Texas reliever Jeff Kuhn picked up the win to move to 2-0. Lúcio Barrios suffered the loss. Carlos Giles was credited with the save for Texas, his 6th of the season.

Texas used a clutch hit from Orlando Rodríguez to get the win. The designated hitter drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rangers ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Nice to tuck this win away," said Rodríguez.

With this game in the books, Texas is 20-26, Minnesota 26-20.
