Excitement reigned at Maulers Ballpark today as FCL Kansas City Royals hurler Leon Ruíz tossed a baseball rarity -- a no-hitter.

After defeating the FCL San Francisco Giants, 9-0, he was swamped by reporters in the clubhouse for postgame comments.

"I'm just glad to be here," Ruíz said. "Today I just went right at the Giants as hard as I could, as long as I could."

Ruíz chalked up 27 strikeouts and allowed 1 walk in his superb performance.

"I don't think they could have stopped him with a howitzer today," said FCL Kansas City manager .

This season Ruíz has gone 8-0 with an ERA of 0.54, posting 186 strikeouts in 66.2 innings.
