Don Roberts Hurls No-No Against DSL St. Louis
|
DSL Pittsburgh Pirates starter Don Roberts came up big today at Pittsburgh Pirates Complex with an exceptional 8-0 outing against the DSL St. Louis Cardinals. Not only did he whip them, but Roberts held them hitless, too.
"My arm was a bit sore in warmups," confessed Roberts. "Sometimes you go out there and you're not feeling all that hot. You get into the game and all of a sudden in the seventh inning you look up and see the scoreboard and think to yourself, 'Oh, my goodness, I have a no-hitter!' You're so focused on what you're doing, it just happens."
In the course of the no-hitter, Roberts collected 25 strikeouts and surrendered no walks -- a day good enough to get his name in the history books.
Checking out his stats for the season, Roberts has registered 7 wins and no losses in 9 starts, posted a 2.05 ERA, and struck out 138 batters in 61.1 innings.
