The Texas Rangers topped the Pittsburgh Pirates, 5-1, in American League action at PNC Park. The standout performance belonged to Texas pitcher and Paradise, Nevada, native Tamwar Taqi. Taqi, now 4-3, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 3, walking 6, and allowing 1 run. The last-place Rangers raised their record to 24-26.

Texas used the bat of Jeremy Wiley to capture the win. The catcher jacked a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Rangers ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.

"I'm a bit of a clubhouse prankster," said Wiley. "But it's all business when we're on the field."
