Mets Deal Catamounts 4-2 Defeat
|
Behind an impressive start by Tim Allen, New York (N) beat Carolina, 4-2. Allen, the winner, moves to 6-4. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 4 walks. Kinnosuke Arai recorded his 15th save for New York (N).
New York (N) used the timely hitting of Jeremy Lowe to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Mets on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In comments to the New York (N) Chronicle, Lowe insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
After today's action, New York (N) sits at 32-20; Carolina slips to 19-33.
