Texas left fielder Don Stringfield had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Stringfield went 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3, even as Los Angeles (A) beat the Rangers, 7-4. At 41-18, the Angels are currently first in the American League Western Division.

In the bottom of the seventh, Los Angeles (A) first baseman Greg Simmons put his team on top. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit his 17th double of the year. Texas pitcher Mike Crawford served it up. Just like that, the Angels were ahead, 5-4.

"Hitting, winning. It's just contagious," said Simmons.
