DSL Cleveland Dazed, Nieves Gets No-Hitter
|
In a dominant outing, Jesús Nieves of the DSL Kansas City Royals totally silenced the bats of the DSL Cleveland Guardians, finishing with a no-hitter.
In the Royals' 3-0 victory, Nieves faced only 30 batters, surrendered no hits, had 26 strikeouts and 2 walks.
"Honestly, I didn't even know the situation was what it was until the seventh inning," DSL Kansas City manager said. "I happened to look up there to see how many hits we had gotten, and I happened to notice that they hadn't gotten any."
Commenting on the defeat, losing manager had a "pretty simple" analysis of the game.
"The Royals had all the hits and all the runs, so they won," he snapped. "But yeah, Nieves pitched a heck of a ballgame."
This season, Nieves has fashioned a 5-1 mark and 0.91 ERA in 49.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .076 against him and he has logged 117 strikeouts.
