The New York (N) Mets picked up a win at Citi Field, knocking off the Washington Nationals, 2-1. Starting pitcher Mario Cruz played a key role in the triumph. New York (N) reliever Edén Guerra picked up the win, raising his record to 1-2. Jimmy Reid was tagged with the loss. New York (N) improves to 37-23 with the win. They lead their division by 5 games.

The Mets were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when designated hitter José Núñez turned a 1-1 fastball from Jimmy Reid into a 2-run home run. The walk-off home run sent a roar through the crowd and gave New York (N) a thrilling 2-1 win.

"It's great to get the crowd pumped up," Núñez said.
