The Carolina Catamounts faced a tough opponent in Toronto pitcher Adrián Hernández, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Rogers Centre by a final score of 3-2. Hernández went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Ed Huffman got the win, improving to 4-8. He worked 6 innings, giving up 2 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Liam Dealey notched his 15th save in 18 chances.
Carolina used the timely hitting of Joe Lund to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Catamounts on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Carolina manager said.
Carolina, with the win, climbs to 22-41.
