5-3 Loss Extends Philadelphia Skid
|
Raúl Jaramillo did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Philadelphia Phillies from losing, 5-3, to the Arizona Diamondbacks at Citizens Bank Park. Jaramillo was 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. William Birkeland earned the win for Arizona. He lasted 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 3-7. Lou Jackson earned save number 17 this season.
Arizona used the timely hitting of Chris Stewart to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Diamondbacks ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"Everyone's kind of edgy right now," said losing manager Donald Spamer, "but nothing a couple of wins wouldn't cure."
The Diamondbacks go to 39-43, putting them second in the National League Western Division.
