Mets Turn Away Blue Jays, 4-3
|
The New York (N) Mets scored a tight 4-3 win versus the Toronto Blue Jays at Citi Field. New York (N) pitcher Tim Allen held his own in the contest. Allen, now 8-7, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 3 runs. Earning his 20th save for New York (N) was Kinnosuke Arai.
Joel Wright had a clutch at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth for the Mets. Coming up with the bases loaded and New York (N) trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run single.
"We gave it the old college try," said Toronto manager Koty Kochan. "But the old college try wasn't good enough."
