Guardians Beat Toronto, 2-1
|
Cleveland beat Toronto on the strength of starter Rob Fox's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 2-1. Toronto, at 38-52, has lost 9 straight.
Cleveland used a clutch hit from Jorge Velázquez to get the win. The catcher drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Guardians ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Velázquez said after the game.
