Hornby Propels St. Louis to 4-1 Win
|
The St. Louis Cardinals picked up a win at Wrigley Field, knocking off the Chicago (N) Cubs, 4-1. On the mound for St. Louis was right-hander Marco Hornby, who played a pivotal role in the win. Mario Salazar locked down his 19th save. St. Louis leads the National League Central Division by 7½ games.
Hornby, who dominated for St. Louis, earned the victory to move to 9-9. He was in control the whole game, scattering 3 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 6. Chicago (N) batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Hornby.
