White Sox Trip Lynx, 3-2
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Chicago (A) White Sox eventually prevailed.
The bats were silent much of the day at U.S. Cellular Field. But Tony Hoover conjured up just enough offense to carry the White Sox past the Ottawa Lynx, 3-2. Hoover went 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winning pitcher was Dave Bannatyne. He's now 9-6. He went 7 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits for the White Sox. Ernesto Martínez collected save number 27.
Hoover had a consequential at-bat in the bottom of the first for the White Sox. Coming up with the bases loaded and Chicago (A) trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run single.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Terry Kift.
The loss makes Ottawa 48-54.
