Reds Need Extra Frames to Get Past Bombers
|
The Cincinnati Reds racked up a win at Bombers Park, bumping off the Jacksonville Bombers, 5-4. Chris Wood, who started for Cincinnati, pitched effectively for his team. Wilson Jiménez, now 5-6, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3 innings. Steve Vidito locked down his 4th save.
The result might have been different, had it not been for Ed Jones, the Cincinnati third baseman. Jones had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 13th inning to put the Reds ahead, 5-4. For the game, Jones had 1 double and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
"Chris was pounding the zone," said Cincinnati manager .
The last-place Reds raised their record to 40-63.
