Seattle Mariners starter Luis Román was in fine form against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Park in Arlington, leading his team to a win, 7-0. Seattle reliever Luis Román got the win, raising his record to 13-5. Tamwar Taqi was tagged with the loss. Seattle is second in the American League Western Division with a record of 61-45.
In the top of the first, Dewitt Mathews pounced on a sinker from Tamwar Taqi and hit a run-scoring single. It gave Seattle a quick 1-0 lead.
"Luis was throwing strikes, locating well," said Seattle manager Scott Pogue.
