Barrera, Red Sox Dispatch Baltimore, 1-0
|
The Boston Red Sox eked out a 1-0 win versus the Baltimore Orioles at Fenway Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Raúl Barrera. He was terrific. Picking up the save was Jim Cox. He's now 28 for 33 in save chances. The Red Sox now have a record of 52-56 with the win over Baltimore.
Barrera, the Boston left-hander, went 6.1 innings, allowing no runs on 2 hits. He collected 9 strikeouts.
In comments to the Boston Citizen, Barrera admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
