Sam Kirby had an impact in the 10-4 Carolina win over Cincinnati. The 31-year old second baseman went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Ed Huffman got the win, improving to 5-11. He worked 6.2 innings, giving up 4 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. The win puts the Catamounts at 42-70, while the Reds drop to 43-69.

Kirby came through with some timely hitting for Carolina. With Cincinnati trailing 4-3 in the top of the seventh, Kirby hit a 1-0 sinker for a grand slam home run. His 5th home run of the season made it 7-4, Carolina.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Kirby.
