2-0 Loss Deepens Cincinnati Funk
|
José Chávez was masterful in helping the Milwaukee Brewers take down the Cincinnati Reds, 2-0. Chávez, now 8-10, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Joe Knight earned the save, his 5th.
Milwaukee relied on the hitting of Pepe Franco to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Brewers on top, 2-0. For the game, Franco had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"The old adage is true," said Chávez. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
This loss makes it 7 in a row for Cincinnati.
