The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Milwaukee Brewers, 6-5, at Great American Ball Park. Cincinnati right fielder Sandy Briggs had a superb performance. He was 1-4, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Steve Wallace earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3.1 innings. His record is now 1-0. Wilson Jiménez was credited with the save for Cincinnati, his 25th of the season.

Jorge Ruíz's at-bat in the bottom of the sixth inning was a big one for Cincinnati. Coming to bat with two out, runners on 2nd and 3rd and Cincinnati trailing 5-3, the catcher hit a 2-run single.

"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Milwaukee manager PJ Wessels. "The effort was great."

After today's action, Cincinnati sits at 47-77; Milwaukee slips to 59-65.
