The Oakland Athletics racked up a win at O.co Coliseum, bumping off the Cincinnati Reds, 4-3. Luis Manuel Rivera, who started for Oakland, pitched effectively for his team. Norm Roy snagged the win in relief. In 3 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit. He's now 9-4 on the season. The third-place Athletics improved to 69-61.

Oakland took a 4-3 lead on Jody Dailey's 6th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Cincinnati pitcher Sergio Acuña in the bottom of the seventh.
