Astros Squelch Reds Offense in Shutout Win
2041 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the Cincinnati Reds.

The Houston Astros got a magnificent performance from pitcher Doug Jenkins, who stifled the Cincinnati offense en route to a 3-0 Astros win at Great American Ball Park. Jenkins went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 17-8. José Reyes picked up the save, his 41st.

Adrián Juárez put Houston in front, 3-0, when he took Duane O'Dell downtown. His 2-run home run came with two out in the top of the third. It was his 13th home run of the season.

"Bottom line," said Cincinnati skipper , "we didn't play well enough to win."
