Washington Beats New York (N) in Extra Innings
|
The Washington Nationals faced a tough opponent in New York (N) pitcher Mario Cruz, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Citi Field by a final score of 5-3. Cruz went 6.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. The Nationals sit in first place in the National League Eastern Division with a record of 79-61.
Washington relied on the bat of Dave Dulin to get the win. The first baseman ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Nationals ahead, 5-2. For the game, Dulin had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"Good win for us, tough loss for them," said Dulin.
