Fine Effort by Kerr Not Enough in 8-7 Mets Loss
The inspired effort of New York (N) right fielder Danny Kerr was not enough to prevent a loss, 8-7, to the Cincinnati Reds. Kerr went 4-4 with 2 home runs and a double. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. Cincinnati reliever Steve Vidito got the win, raising his record to 5-4. Cédric Claudel was tagged with the loss. Wilson Jiménez earned the save, his 30th, for the Reds.

Had Jim House not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, House hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the Reds.

"Nothing is scripted in this game," said House.

Cincinnati, at 56-88, holds down last place in the National League Central Division.
