Red Sox Earn 4-3 Road Win Over Minnesota
|
Boston starter Jimmy Sharp had a strong outing against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-3 win. Sharp, now 14-8, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 3 runs. Earning his 41st save of the year was Jim Cox.
Boston used a well-timed hit by Juan Ávila to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
After the game, Boston manager Kendall DeSanto applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
Boston is now 74-72, while Minnesota is 76-70.
