Garza Lifts Guardians to 6-4 Triumph
|
The Cleveland Guardians topped the Texas Rangers by the score of 6-4, with the largest share of the credit going to second baseman Jesús Garza. Garza was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 2 for the Guardians. Alfredo Gutiérrez, the winning pitcher, improved to 10-10. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 7 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 2. Raúl Llanet was credited with the save, his 41st in 43 tries.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Juan Morales? The Cleveland first baseman had a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Guardians on top, 3-2. For the game, Morales had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Glad to get this win," said Morales. "But we need to keep playing at a high level."
The Rangers, at 60-87, have lost 4 in a row.
