Big Game from Cantú Not Enough, Athletics Lose
|
The Los Angeles (A) Angels outlasted Jesús Cantú and the Oakland Athletics, 8-6. Cantú was impressive in the loss. The Oakland right fielder went 2 for 2 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Los Angeles (A) is now 92-59.
The Angels got a big hit from designated hitter Joe Pratt. In the bottom of the sixth, Pratt smacked a grand slam home run off Oakland pitcher Jorge Martínez. It was his 8th home run of the season. Suddenly, the Angels were ahead, 7-6.
"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Pratt, "but we got it done."
