Fading Pirates Lose 15th Straight
|
The Washington Nationals racked up a win at Nationals Park, bumping off the Pittsburgh Pirates, 4-3. Ed Ray, who started for Washington, pitched effectively for his team. Washington pitcher Manny Medina got the win. He's now 2-3. Damian Wiley was tagged with the loss. Picking up the save was Tuu-ko-ihu Kaleo. He's now 29 for 34 in save chances.
António Villarreal had a critical at-bat with one out in the bottom of the eighth. The Washington catcher came through with a run-scoring single to put Washington in front, 4-3.
"We're obviously playing with a lot of confidence," said Washington manager .
The first-place Nationals have won 7 consecutive games.
