Orioles Handle Red Sox, 5-4
|
The Baltimore Orioles did just enough to secure a victory over the Boston Red Sox, 5-4, at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Nobody did more than left fielder Juan Jose Cabrera. Jorge Durán, now 4-3, was credited with the win. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Edgardo Gonzáles earned the save for Baltimore, his 34th of the year.
The Orioles got a lift from first baseman Kratukarana Multani who had a 3-run home run in the bottom of the first inning off Shawn Garner. It was his 35th home run of the season and put Baltimore in front, 3-0.
"There are times you get yourself out and there are times you come through," Multani said. "That's how it goes."
The Orioles saw their win-loss record go to 85-67. At the same time, the Red Sox fell to 77-75.
