Florida Held Hitless by Martínez
Jesús Martínez relied on excellent pitch selection and pinpoint control to hold Florida hitless in a 3-0 win at ESPN Wide World of Sports Stadium today.

"Nobody goes out to pitch a no-hitter," he said later. "We just go out and try to get a win. A 10-9 win is better than a 1-0 loss. My pitching buddies might not be too happy giving up nine runs but a win is a win. The key to it today was I mixed my pitches well. I kept the Fire Frogs off balance and guessing the whole game."

The 26-year-old starter rung up 8 strikeouts and 2 walks in whipping the Fire Frogs.

"When a guy is throwing strikes the way he was and is locating well, it is going to be a long day for any club," Florida skipper said.

In 13 starts this year Martínez has recorded a 3-5 record and a 4.48 ERA.
