Red Sox Snag 6-5 Win
|
Fenway Park was host to some intense drama.
Carolina got a terrific game from center fielder Joe Anderson. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Boston, 6-5. Anderson went 2-3 with a double and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Boston pitcher Jim Cox got the win. He's now 7-9. Liam Dealey was tagged with the loss.
The Red Sox were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when center fielder Danny Walker turned a 1-0 fastball from Liam Dealey into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent a roar through the crowd and gave Boston a thrilling 6-5 win.
"It's great to get the crowd pumped up," Walker said.
The third-place Red Sox improved to 81-77.
