The Cincinnati Reds tallied a win at Safeco Field, throttling the Seattle Mariners, 3-0. Starting pitcher Jorge Ruíz was a big reason for his team's success. The Reds, at 63-96, sit in last place in the National League Central Division.

In the top of the fourth, with Cincinnati leading 1-0, Rudy Edwards hit a fastball from José Cuevas for a run-scoring single, giving the Reds the lead, 2-0.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Ruíz told the Cincinnati Daily News.
