In a low-scoring contest, New York (A) pitcher Víctor Vela was marvelous in his team's 2-1 win. Jim Yates, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 4th save. With the win, New York (A) climbs to 5-2.

The Yankees got a lift from catcher Sandro Ayala, who in the bottom of the third hit a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season put the Yankees on top, 2-0.

"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Ayala told the New York (A) Chronicle.
