Stéphane Sanchez of the Fayetteville Woodpeckers was masterful today, pitching a 4-hit shutout, 5-0, against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.

By going the distance, he was at the same time able to give his bullpen a rest, a fact appreciated by Fayetteville manager .

"It's nice to have someone who can do that from time to time," he said. "He had command of every ball and every pitch. Great location, too."

Sanchez had 12 strikeouts and 1 walk in the outing.


Sanchez has made 10 starts, tossed 64.1 innings, struck out 80 batters and walked 17. His record is 5-2 with a 2.52 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .231 batting average.
