Manny Aponte of the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers put on a pitching clinic today at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium as he struck out 17 Carolina Mudcats in a 13-2 victory. Aponte, who is tied for 3rd in the A- East with a 1.28 ERA, was simply magnificent as he held the Mudcats to 4 hits. He walked 0.

"I felt okay at the beginning," Aponte said, "but eventually my curveball really started working. I also have to thank my catcher for calling a great game."

When asked about Aponte's performance, Cannon Ballers manager shook his head and said, "Yeah, he was good out there today. He was dominating."

To date this year Aponte has won 9 and lost 0 with a 1.28 ERA, no saves and 157 strikeouts in no relief appearances.
