Watson Too Tough, Blanks Akron Thursday, May 8th , 2042 The Akron RubberDucks had no answer today for Portland Sea Dogs pitcher Vince Watson. They failed to score a single run against him, losing 4-0. Akron managed only 5 hits off Watson, who had 11 strikeouts. The extraordinarily popular Watson got a standing ovation from the hometown crowd as he left the field, the applause continuing until he returned from the dugout to tip his cap to the crowd. "Sea Dogs fans are the best fans, in my opinion," he said. "It's a great feeling to throw a shutout under any circumstances but to do it with the crowd behind you like that is just incredible." Taking a look at his season stats for 2042, Watson has made no relief appearances, recorded no saves and compiled a 3-1 won-lost mark with a 2.41 ERA.
